And what to do with him when his back gives out in December and needs back surgery? There’s a big reason he’s unsigned - turbo044
Do you have a source that his back injury is something that might be recurring? Cause he's been pretty healthy his whole career. |

I see a skeleton on a park bench. Dubas is about as good as managing a budget as the government. |

Back injuries are scary. I can speak personally, you think you are recovered and one small tweak and then extreme pain. It should be considered as part of the evaluation/risk. |

Jack Hughes for Mitch Marner? - Maginty
Why would I trade a center, cost controlled for a high priced winger. I will offer Mueller, a bag of pucks and you will say thank you and leave. |

He’s known to have a wonky back. Other than that, might not be a bad choice.
Calgary has a Micheal Stone and a T.J. Brodie up for grabs tho.. |

Fun fact - goalies performed best when Mirco Mueller was on the ice... |

Oh, and by the way, I have no problem trading Vats for some offensive upgrade. If we are not signing him long term, and I doubt we are, best to monetize it now for a full season. |

Vatanen is selling low right now. I don't see him getting moved. |

Dubas managed their cap space about as good as any gm in the league has ever done this summer, and managed to improve the teams biggest problem area while at it.
So not sure how you came to that conclusion... But it's a bad one. |

It already cost them a 1st round pick and they're at odds with Mitch Marner precisely because they overpaid Matthews.
I'm glad you have the guts to say it's a bad one, but I see more holes in this line-up even should Mitch cohere than I do last year. Their special teams may take another hit.
But you know what? If they do get Mitch under contract, if their special teams improve next year, and if they get by the first round, I'll say that what Dubas did was a success. If they get iced in the first round again, though, or even fail to make the playoffs, I'll stick to what I said. |

It cost him a 1st rounder to get rid of a contract he didn't sign? If that's the worst that can be said about him with how full his plate has been this summer, it's not looking to bad. |

I like the idea of adding Jake and trading Vats. If the Devils start strong and Vats plays well he’s a good trade chip....
.... but I think we are done.
Also, we could trade Greene as a rental and eat salary. |

Todd making some compelling arguments here. I just can't shake the nightmare of Gardiner doing something dumb that directly results in us losing the cup or a chance at the cup. |

Mr game 7.
I get that there's a lot of stats to enforce him being a good defenseman, and he is a great skater, I will give him that. Honestly, he is a nightmare to watch on your team night in and night out. I wouldn't wish him on anyone other than the Habs. |

Totally, how dare him go out and sign the best player to ever hit the free agent market at less money than he was offered elsewhere.
If that's your hill to die on, he has Matthews and JT signed at over 11 mil per, and has about 10 million sitting around for Marner at the moment. Can't exactly call that a poop job... |

I guess by your logic shero is a dummy if he extends hall, because he's got a pretty incredible group of youngsters to extend over the next few years to... |
